Proverbs 15:5:
There is a clear role for parental authority in life of God's people. A wise some listens to the instruction, where as the unwise do the opposite. There seems to be a large emphasis on admitting wrongness than being correct. Saying "this is what I believe and I don't care what anyone else says" is a scary place to be.
5 A fool despises his father's instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent.
